My kids love using my pointers that everyone owns! I never really had a purpose for them other than the kids using them on the board so I did some thinking...well Pinterest shopping! I saw this post for a game. I changed it around to fit the use of the pointers and called it "Point!" The game is simple; each team has 4 or 5 members. I call out a rhythm or melody based on grade and they echo the pattern. After they recite the pattern, on person from each team (whoever has the pointer) gets up, walks around the room and tries to be the first person to "point" to the correct rhythm/melody. I have several sets of those rhythm/melody cards from some music catalog so I leave one set hung up randomly around the room (based on what's being learned). Since they're always up we can play with those spare few minutes or when learning new concepts. It's fun for the kids and introduces simple dictation ideas since they're hearing the pattern then finding it dictated on a flash card. They're always asking "can we play Point?!" Enjoy!
